New Patient FAQ's

Why do people choose Dr. Krupka?

Generally speaking, patients choose to see Functional Medicine practitioners when they have failed to see their health improve with conventional medicine.  Many patients have also found that they align philosophically more with Functional Medicine principles (see “What is Functional Medicine”).

Is Dr. Krupka a medical doctor?

Dr. Krupka is a Chiropractor, not a medical doctor, and as such does not  prescribe medications, nor does he treat diseases, but rather, he focuses on nutrition and lifestyle changes to improve your health and wellness.

Dr. Krupka cares for patients with a multitude of complex, chronic issues that range from ADD to cancer, to mold exposure, to autoimmune issues. While he does NOT directly treat these issues, these issues help him determine the nature of your underlying health issues, and guide your supportive care.

How long are the appointments?

New patient appointments usually run between 60 and 90 minutes with Dr. Krupka.  Follow-up appointments are usually 30 minutes each.

Will Dr. Krupka listen to me?

Yes, so often patients have had experiences of not being taken seriously, or not being allowed to really tell their story.   There is so much important information in your history.  Some of the most common comments we get in feedback are that patients were relieved that “someone finally heard me”, or “he actually understood me”.   In short…YES, WE LISTEN!

Why don’t you accept insurance?

Unfortunately insurance companies do not reimburse for most of the services we offer.  In most cases they only reimburse for short visits and medications…nutritional supplements, lifestyle changes, nutritional counseling, and Functional Medicine testing is rarely covered.  Our prices would need to increase substantially to afford the additional staff necessary to process insurance paperwork…and insurance wouldn’t be reimbursing for our services anyway.  We avoid all of this and keep our pricing reasonable by functioning as a cash practice.

How much should I expect to pay for my initial visit?

Dr. Krupka bills for the time that he spends with you during your appointment.  At a rate of $70 per 15 minute increment, the initial office visit usually costs between $280 and $420.  Additionally, if you need lab testing or supplements, those costs can range up to an additional $1500.  All tests and supplements are discussed thoroughly before you incur any cost and there is no obligation to purchase anything other than the visit.

Phone consults are available for patients, doctors, and health coaches and the same rate of $70 per 15 minutes.

Subject to availability, 10 minute “meet & greet” phone calls are available for prospective new patients at no cost.

What are your office hours?

We are normally open Monday through Thursday from 07:30 – 17:30 with a break between 12:30 and 14:00.

We periodically close when Dr. Krupka is at conferences or meetings so it’s always safer to call before you stop by the office.
